I can’t express how excited I am for the upcoming school year at POLYTECH! Students will be astounded to see the new addition and all the improvements around the school. Below are several reminders about the upcoming school year.
First, POLYTECH’s traffic pattern will change this year due to the new construction. Student drivers may use both entrances in the morning, but must park in the rear of the building in spaces marked in yellow. In the afternoon, the east entrance will be blocked and students may only exit at the west entrance by the sports fields. Parents who drive their students must drop off and pick up by the gym lobby entrance in the back of the school.
This year all students who arrive late to school must enter the front main office. Students will not be buzzed in the back doors. Student drivers must enter to receive their note to class and then go back to their cars to drive to the back of the building to park. They will be buzzed in with proof of their office note.
Second, students will receive a lot of important information on the first day of school.
Please with your student to review this information. • Wellness Center application • Student agenda book • Parent calendar with handbook • Nurse Emergency form • Address and phone verification
Third, please check the home access before Monday to verify any schedule changes which may have occurred over the last few days.
Fourth, the POLYTECH school store is now open daily during lunches. The school store carries all necessary items for students in their classes at competitive prices.
Fifth, POLYTECH will offer a new elective beginning on Monday. The elective course is Teaching Foundations and is designed for any student interested in becoming a teacher.
The course will focus on the history of American education and current trends in education. Students should see their counselor if they are interested in taking the course. The course will be offered this semester and is a great new option for students
Finally, I want to end by stressing two school wide policies. The POLYTECH dress code can be found on our website along with an informational Power Point designed to give examples of proper and improper dress.
http://www.polytechpanthers.com/ourpages/auto/2011/12/19/58631622/Dress%20Code%20PP%20201415.pdf The dress code will be enforced on the first day of school. Please review the information this weekend.
Students will not be allowed in school with open food or beverages. We ask that students who bring coffee or morning snacks to school finish the items before entering the building. Food and drink is only allowed in the cafeteria.
I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday and to a great school year.
